Tri-Elastomer Technology
What is Tri-Elastomer Technology
Tri-Elastomer Technology is a water impermeable, flexible, adhesive membrane that requires no primer (most instances) that provides a permanent water insoluble bond in many applications including tile, roofing, flooring, waterproofing, and HVAC applications. Tri-Elastomer Technology is an advanced formulation designed to provide exceptional shear and cohesive strength to increase holding power while optimizing the balance of tack and peel resistance that effects bond and ability to re-position. It was also designed with a "Stretch and Release" property which enables the installer a means of removing without damaging the wall substrate.
Construction pressure sensitive adhesive tapes are used for their featured properties:
- 100 % solids visco-elastic adhesive
- Optimizes peel & tack: (quick stick/repositionability)
- Optimizes shear: (cohesive strength/holding power)
- Optimizes temperature stability: (high and low)
- No Primer Required* (see approved substrates)
By specifically selecting proprietary synthetic elastomers, resins and thermoplastics together with a built-in primer, our formulation enables very high shear strength and instant bonding to most typical construction substrates yet allows forgiving repositioning until the pressure sensitive adhesive is firmly pressed into place. Most butyl, butyl blend, modified butyls and butyl-hybrid construction tapes offer very good peel resistance, when hazardous/flammable liquid primers are used, and are well known for their temperature stability, but they were never intended to support a load (i.e Tile or mosaic sheet), so their shear strength is often remarkably poor. Most attempt to make up for this lack of holding power by incorporating a strength member that ranges from a synthetic fabric inter-ply and/or a reinforcing mesh. Or, many attempt to overcome the holding power deficiency by also increasing the thickness of the adhesive. Regardless, each adds substantially to the cost of the product.
Tri-Elastomer Technology is specially formulated to enable HYPER ELASTIC DEBONDING. A simple, easy method for removing improperly placed tiles and adhesive after the tiles have been firmly pressed into place. This property provides a fail safe solution that enables homeowners and professionals to fix any mistake without damaging the wall substrate.
To activate Stretch & Release of firmly pressed tiles or adhesive:
STEP 1: pry the corner or any side of tile with fingers, putty knife and expose MusselBound adhesive underneath
STEP 2: pinch the exposed MusselBound adhesive and stretch parallel to the wall (substrate)
STEP 3: keep pinching/grabbing and stretching adhesive parallel to wall until the entire sheet of adhesive has been Stretched & Released without damage to the substrate
STEP 4: replace tile and or adhesive as desired
